ULUWATU

At the southernmost tip of the
Badung Regency the cliff top temple of Pura Uluwatu soars majestically above the
waves, whit a sheer drop of at least 100 metres on three sides. This most sacred
temple is said to have been the place chosen by the saint Dang Hyang Niratha to
attain “Moksha” or spiritual enlightenment. The architecture of the temple
is particularly striking, and a tribe of monkeys inhabit the surrounding cliff
faces.
